Thirty minutes can change your life, but how? When it comes to exercising, you can literally LIVE longer! A report presented at the International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders in San Diego found that patients with Parkinson’s disease who began regular exercise early into the PD process had a much slower decline in their quality of life when compared with those who started exercising later. And get this, just 2.5 hours a week, which is only 20-25 minutes a day, improved those quality life scores! WOW!
It’s highly unlikely that you’re reading this with Parkinson’s Disease, so let’s talk about exercise for the regular person. When a person is walking, that’s exercising! Studies show that doing something as simple as walking reduce one’s risk for memory loss, and it slows down functional decline in the elderly. Aerobic exercise can also improve reaction time in people at ALL AGES. Those afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease and even multiple sclerosis have reported better outcomes due to EXCERSING!
Encourage your children, nieces, nephews and anyone old enough to talk and walk to exercise as well! In a study involving teenagers, those who engaged in sports reported a greater level of well-being then their sedentary peers, and the more vigorous the exercise, the better their emotion health! In addition to that, kids who suffer from depression, anxiety and stress conditions are less severe when they exercise! So although exercise is not a complete “cure-all” it’s definitely a HUGE help to living a better life! Let’s take out 30 minutes at least three times a week to change our lives!
